About
Christopher Brooks and Alonzo Chester Sr. of TBAG Caterers, LLC have been party caterers servicing the Baltimore/Metropolitan DC area for over 6 Years. We started out with very humble beginnings.
I met Chris in 1991 at Towson State University where I was attending school. Chris was fresh out of college, a graduate of the Widener University, School of Hotel and Restaurant Management. After being friends for seven years, we both realized there was a common interest in food. Alonzo got his interest in cooking from his mom (Mississippi born and raised) the oldest girl of 12 kids who cooked for the entire family each night. We realized we both had a passion for food and spoke about possibly starting a business together. After networking and keeping in touch with old friends and colleagues, an opportunity presented itself. In 1997, Chris and I joined two other entrepreneurs and started Cades Café, a soul food jazz restaurant located in downtown Baltimore. We served traditional soul food with a twist and live jazz to boot. While the idea and concept proved to be a wanted element in the city, the business side presented a challenge with location, and overhead. Two years later Chris and I started TBAG Caterers.
Many people have asked what TBAG stands for. Well, we wish we could tell you a long drawn out story about how the name came about but it is really fairly simple. We both had a very meek start. Our first job came about via a friend of the family. They needed help with arranging a cookout and serving the food. We put our heads together and quickly started the plans to make it a successful event. After the cookout, there were many accolades and compliments about the food. We were asked frequently the name of the business. With no name in mind we procrastinated. We knew we didn’t want to have an outrageous name but something more honest and true. We looked at what was comprised of us and a light bulb went off. Two Brothers and a Grill, which was all we had at the time, that and a dream. We took the first letter of each word and formed the name of TBAG Caterers. We agreed that food should be prepared and cooked to perfection but at the same time give you that down home taste and feel that you are accustomed to. This idea has grown into our way of thinking and how we do business. We strive to provide the best service possible and conduct ourselves in the most professional way but make you feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible. So enjoy a romantic picnic for two or an ultimate BBQ for 200. We have been providing classic comfort food done great since 2001. Let TBAG party caterers handle your catering needs, because you have other things to worry about… food shouldn’t be one of them!
